His life is a miracle!

Franek WiłkomirskiFranek was born with a very severe organic heart disease (one-ventricle heart and other complications), but having an extreme will to live too.

He underwent five operations, two resuscitations, artificial respiration lasting two months, passed through a sepsis, staphylococcal infection, twice through a pneumonia and is being nourished through a tube.

By a miracle he is alive – stated the doctors.

The little Franek is a six-month-old and charming child. However, the struggle for his life is going on. It is necessary to perform two expensive operations. We apply to all the willing people with a request.

Help us with saving his life!

Franek struggles to be alive

Franek was a longed-for child.

The result of prenatal examination stopped violently our joy. Franek was to be born with a very severe organic heart disease! We caught hold of the hope given by the leading cardiosurgeon Professor Edward Malec in Cracow.

Unfortunately the professor left Poland and it turned out that the organic heart disease in our child is more complex than expected (one-ventricle heart with pulmonary trunk atresia, a single atrioventricular valve and absent proximal part in both pulmonary arteries). Therefore it was necessary to connect Franek to a unit maintaining vital functions immediately after birth and perform two cardiosurgical operations.

Unfortunately during those surgeries became injured the phrenic nerve and consequently a subsequent operation was necessary. During the next weeks was carried out a fight against infections (sepsis, staphylococci, rotaviruses), which twice brought about clinical death. Four attempts at stopping artificial respiration and starting normal respiration failed. When the doctors had shattered hopes, Franek pulled the intubation tube out and started breathing! The doctors noted that Franek’s revival is an authentic miracle!

However, this was not the end of Franek’s gehenna. After being so long under the influence of narcotics, now the child was to pass through a difficult five-weeks’ “disaccustoming” period with suffering and pain. Then the little Franek also had to learn eating, because previously he was nourished with drip infusions or by means of a tube inserted through the nose. All the described trials caused a disappearance of the swallowing reflex. In Franek was inserted a tube through the abdominal integument, which seemed to be an easy procedure, but a mistake made by a physician caused an intestinal perforation resulting in the fifth life-saving operation performed at the very last moment.

Eventually after a hard struggle and suffering that lasted 4.5 months Franek could leave the hospital. The subsequent weeks spent at home began to yield expected results. Now little Franek is a cheerful child and makes up the wasted months quickly. Hard work upon developing all the reflexes carried out by the parents and specialists in rehabilitation is producing wished for effects.

At present it is essential to perform two major surgeries with a view to attaining normal life. These are difficult operations but with a good prognosis if performed correctly. Therefore with all the very high costs we want the leading specialist in Europe Prof. E. Malec in Munich to operate on our son.

We are confident of Franek being in for a prosperous life.
